I’m angry today but I suppose thats not unexpected on an anger mgt site. However my being angry has little to do with my normal emotions.
My mgt of my anger has been pretty good lately. Matter of fact I had a pretty good handle on not getting angry over petty little things and most major issues. However I don’t imagine I’m the only angry white man around. I know lots of angry guys of all colors.
What’s most interesting to me is this time I believe it’s over the counter medication that is causing me so much difficulty in dealing with my anger. Be aware that there are some prescription medications that can cause you to be angry or make anger mgt very hard.
When I was first given alprazolam(Xanax) the dosage was .25 millegrams and the first morning I took it I was in a very angry mood all day. The exact opposite of what it was supposed to do. MOF it was so bad I asked my wife not to come into my office for the rest of the day.
I have a bad case of COPD and I decided I was tired of paying 180 bucks a month for one medication so I thought I’d try some over the counter stuff that has worked in the past. Doesn’t work as well as the prescription drugs but it does work.
I’d been taking the ephidrine for a few days and noticed that I was losing patience with a lot of things much faster than I usually do. I talked to my girlfriend about it but didn’t stop taking it.
Last night I got really angry about some things that shouldn’t have bothered me at all. Finally when I couldn’t fall asleep because I was so angry I took another pill to help me sleep. I decided then and there to stop taking it.
The moral of the story is if you have a decent handle on your anger issues and then start getting angry as you used to you might want to take a look at any new prescription drugs or over the counter drugs you are taking. They could be the cause of your being angrier than usual and you anger mgt not working as well as it should.
You should always check out the side affects of any drug you are taking but I didn’t bother because I’d taken it before. However that was also back when I was very, very angry all the time.
