We all have anger issues, but there are some of us who have more anger issues than others. They lash out in the drop of a hat so to say. Little things seem to upset them more quickly than others. Making their health at risk due by stress and possibly harming others. Those people need to learn coping skills to deal with their anger effectively. Mentioned below are three types of ways for you to help with your anger management. Keep in mind that what works for one person may not work for another, so try them and find which one is right for you.
Acupressure The act of rubbing or tapping on the body can achieve this technique. If you massage your body briskly you will cause the energy in your body to move about, thus making it hard to stay tense or upset. When the body is in a relaxed state it is hard to remain tense and angry.
Journal Writing The act of writing your thoughts down and seeing how you reacted to something that is most likely out of your hands. By writing these down and being aware of what your negative emotions and thoughts are helps. You see them in “black and white” and can keep track of how you reacted, how you felt, what caused the incident. Making you realize there can be alternative things you can do and deal with these situations when they arise. In the future, try utilizing one of those alternative methods. There is also a good way to learn journal writing using books or internet, even your local library. Cognitive thinking/writing is another good journal writing technique that I would suggest. It takes a good look at the negative thoughts you are currently having at any given time. Allowing you to see what triggered your anger response and how you can try and change your thinking to take a different approach to a similar incident in the future. Thus avoiding anger and stress as well.
Step Back. If you know you are easily angered or have a difficult time in controlling your temper, stay away from the situation that may cause it. If a certain situation triggers you anger or stress try and stay out of it, avoid it, makes changes in it. Just try and steer clear of those situations. For example, why would you go into a store that sells something that you don’t agree with? Wouldn’t that be a trigger since you disagree with say, selling firearms?
There are quick a few available methods out there for controlling overwhelming anger. The first thing is to realize you have an anger problem and then take the step and find a method that helps you the best. Because anger causes stress and over time if you can control this anger you will be much happier in your life.
Remember, stress is a necessary thing in our lives, but in small quantities, not anger related stress, natural stress. So step back and try and take control of your anger before it takes total control of you and your health.
