One method of determining the stress in your life, and also to figure out what the triggers are to the anxiety, is a stress diary. Just like with any other area of our lives, we sometimes do not even realize what we are going through. Before we have time to reflect we are in the next situation. Logging our feelings and emotions, understanding what sets us off, and keeping up with it consistently, even hour by hour, will help.
The stress diary will enable you to identify at what levels you are able to effectively live your life and how you react to different situations and if they reaction you are having is appropriate for what you are going through at that time.
For those who have performace anxiety whether it be on a job or in social situations, there is performace planning which can help alleviate the level of stress and anxiety felt at this time. Planning ahead helps to prevent the things that can go wrong. Essentially, what causes the stress is the consideration for all the things that can go wrong. So planning ahead for the performance, down to the small details can help prevent or eliminate the things that can go wrong. This will help you be able to stay in a positive state of mind.
Anger management is another consideration to helping with stress management and anxiety reduction. Keeping a diary or log of the times that you are angry is a great first step. If you can see it and acknowledge it then you can then work on changing it. Within anger management therapy you are encouraged to have support and surround yourself with positive people.
Stress and anger can be positive forces and the reaction can be a stir to do right or to fight for a cause. The energy must be directed from destructible forces to positive avenues. Learning to manage stress and anxiety will be the key.
